5 Most Common Mistakes by Guitar Players

The key to improvement is practice. It is very important to have a strong and healthy self-criticism. Before reading this tutorial, I'll tell you this: These are just common mistakes I've seen in the last few years in a lot of guitarists and I've been making the same mistakes. While this does not mean that you are also doing them yourself, you can take this tutorial as a starting point to analyze your weaknesses.

1. Time

This is very common. If you've ever recorded yourself, ever, during your music career, you've probably noticed how long you were out. Maybe you have improved over the years, or maybe not.

Fledgling Guitar - metronome
Although it is very strange that the guitar player has a bad reputation in both timing (reading) and reading.

Playing with the rhythm is so painful that, due to the fact you start thinking about the guitar which is just for the pitch. So you take care of learning the scale, the cord, but you don't want to think for a minute that everything in music should be on time, no matter what the playing instrument is.

The key to improvement is a metronome.

As a guitar player in general you should not consider the use of the metronome as something extra, because you, as a member of society, do not consider the skill of reading an extra book.

2. Vibrato

Vibrato. A very under-rated technique, which everyone in the guitar world thinks they can, but in fact they can't.

The vibrato technique does not mean that you have to move your hand super fast until the string swings from the top to the bottom of the neck (neck). In fact, good vibrato technique emanates at a leisurely pace that adds a little extra natural incantation to the note.

Classical Guitar Vibrato Explained

Most people are unable to understand that when vibrato play, time is the important point. The vibrato needs to be on time, as well as other notes. Connecting a note to an effect does not mean you are in your time, or can call yourself in tune.

Now let's talk about Tune. Using a vibrato on a note does not mean to tone a quarter of a turn. Then both these mistakes are the result of a stressed player.

Finally, do not use vibrato on each note, which lasts more than a quarter note. Holding a note does not mean that you have to add vibrato to it. Think of it like this. If you use a particular effect every time, it is no longer special. So only use vibrato when appropriate, like you would with other techniques.

3. Guitar Neck Visualization

This thing is something that I really like and it may happen that some people take very little information about it or do not care much about it. This may sound like an advanced skill as a guitar player, but to me it's better if you first see everything - notes, intervals, dots - on the neck.

I will start with this idea: Patterns — or using shapes — are both advantages and disadvantages used to playing the cord and scale.

Fledgling Guitar

Pro: After understanding the concept, you can play in each key on the same scale, without thinking about changes or notes on that scale.
Cons: Without thinking about notes, you run the risk of being lazy and ignorant about music. You get to the situation where you are copying some points on a paper without actually knowing anything.
I am not saying that you have to learn all the notes when you first pick up the guitar. Learn the pattern first. Then you learn the interval, then learn the notes.

None of us can learn everything in the first point; Seeing what's happening on Guitar Neck should be the goal of everyone.

The reason for this is that because of the good knowledge of fret board, you not only know what you are doing, you also care about the notes you are playing.

4. Too many notes

Maybe you had the feeling that "when I'm playing alone, just move the pattern up and down and I don't know what else to do". This is because you don't think in terms of the note, you think in terms of the figure. Each notes has its own character and sound. As you learn, the more authentic ope motif will be.

Such mistakes are not immediately apparent in guitarists, such as timing or vibrato. However the effects of this deficiency are fully recognizable: unrhythmic, ignorance, not being memorable singles.

And these mistakes have to deal with two aspects of music: the guitar neck scene but most of all, ear training.

I have already considered the first point; Now consider ear training and solo talks. You should always use your ear when learning the scale. And by that, I mean always.

Learning the scale while staring the dots on paper will not take you anywhere. You should sing on a larger scale while you are playing guitar. You should be able to start that scale from a given root.

This training will experiment with your ear and above all, you will understand the direction of every note of the scale.

5. Laziness

I cannot find a more specific word to describe this last point. The guitar is an easy instrument to play, but really hard to master. Also, the guitar is the kind of instrument that everyone has to play, even if they only know a few open chords.

So when someone starts playing the guitar, they learn basic things and maybe some scales and they think they can play the guitar because they have friends who do it.

Having said that, I am not trying to say that if you want to play guitar, you have to study in the Conservatory of 10 years or devote your whole life to it. What I am pointing out is the fact that we quit learning the material too quickly.

If playing the guitar — or any other instrument — is considered a difficult task to play, then you really have to push yourself, so I'm sure that only people with commitment will join it.

To be able to play an instrument would be to develop a few years of study as well as other skills that you learn. So be patient with yourself, but don't be lazy and always excited to learn something new to learn.

➼  The conclusion

I hope you don't take this article like a silly criticism against a guitarist: after all, I also play guitar and am definitely not free from mistake. I think the first thing to fix the mistake is to identify them. So, consider being honest whether you have found that he is one of those categories.
